The Laundry Tarts Review + Giveaway

I’ve talked about my battles with the L word before. Laundry is not something that I look forward to, but I know it must be done, and done well. That goes for Micah’s diapers, as well. Those of you who cloth diaper know how hard it can be to find the right detergent that you love and that works wonders on your diapers. Up until now, I was using your run-of-the-mill Free & Clear detergent. It gets the job done.

Then I discovered The Laundry Tarts. This stuff is so awesome! Not only does it really, REALLY clean your laundry and diapers, it comes in delicious scents like Birthday Cake. Cake! Who doesn’t love cake?! No one I know! The Laundry Tarts have created a 100% Canadian made line of vegan, dessert inspired laundry detergent that is eco-friendly and cloth diaper safe.

How much better can it get? I’ll tell you. Their  detergent comes in oh-so-temping scents like Key Lime Pie, Cinnamon Buns, Mint Chocolate Chip, Canadian Maple, Strawberry Shortcake, Cookie Dough, Toasted Marshmallow, and Orange Dreamsicle, just to name a few. If you’re not jonesin’ for some sweets after reading that, then there’s something wrong!

Not only do their scents have the potential to send you into a dessert craving like no other (which is a-okay with me! YUM!), The Laundry Tarts detergent is totally green--right down to the compost friendly packaging! From The Laundry Tarts website: "Our products are hypoallergenic, 100% vegan and free of phosphates, EDTA, phthalates, parabens, SLS, SLES, nitrates, sulphites and chlorine! What do we use? All natural, safe old fashion ingredients to remove stains, keep whites bright and remove odour and bacteria without masking them with harmful chemical fragrances." Awesome!

I washed a load of regular laundry using my Birthday Cake scented detergent, and it did a fabulous job! My clothes were clean, fresh, and stain free! But what really sold me on The Laundry Tarts came next. I washed a load of dirty diapers and soaked them for an hour. Those puppies came out of the dryer, and I was in shock as to how SOFT they were! I pulled out one of Micah’s bumGenius shells, and instinctively rubbed it on my cheek! Kind of gross considering he poops in it, but it was just so darn soft! I couldn’t help it. I mean, his diapers have never been scratchy, but this was a whole new kind of clean. They didn’t stink like ammonia even after a wash cycle. When it comes to detergent, I think I’ve finally found “the one” for our diapers.

You can buy a 4 pound bag of The Laundry Tarts detergent for $19.95.

Want to try it out for yourself and see how phenomenal this detergent is? Good thing, because The Laundry Tarts has generously offered one bag of laundry detergent to one lucky Freckleberry Finds reader!

Threadbands Birthday Shirt 4/12

Happy entering!

Threadbands Review + Giveaway

I can't believe it. My little bitty baby is TWO years old. After I finished weeping over his long gone "babyhood", I decided he needed some cool duds for his big day. I mean, this was a big deal--for him and me. I'd managed to raise him for two years without any major incidents! A personalized shirt was definitely in order.

I found this fantastic shop called Threadbands, which is run by an amazingly skilled and talented gal named Kristen. Not only are her designs stinkin' adorable, they are done in an appliquéd style! I think this adds so much to the shirt! It just feels like it's a high-quality product. I ordered a train shirt with the number 2 and "Micah" on it. I even got to pick my colors! Take a look at how darling it is!

Seriously. It's perfect for my little train conductor. They have designs to fit any kiddo, too! With designs like cupcakes, racecars, ice cream cones, and monkeys, you're bound to find something that you can't live without. Threadbands can work with you to make your munchkin's shirt extra special!

Want to win a shirt for YOUR little one? Why wouldn't you?! Good news! Threadbands is offering one lucky Freckleberry Finds reader a custom birthday shirt of their choosing!

Get in Shape for Summer -- for LIFE!

Okay, okay. I know we all loved the holidays a little bit too much, and winter made it easy to make excuses about why we hadn't gotten moving in so long. But guess what? That all ends today! No more puny excuses as to why it's okay to eat the whole tub of ice cream in three days. No more couch potato-ing the weekends away. Wouldn't it be amazing to lose those last 10 to 15 pounds before summer? Is it so bad that you don't recognize yourself in photos anymore? I was there, trust me.

In June of last year, I finally said "enough!" to my weight. I bought a Jillian Michaels DVD (30 Day Shred) and got to work. I had ballooned to 219.5 pounds (!!!!), which is much higher than my usual 170s. Yeah, I'd had two kids in between now and then, but really---that's a whopping 50 pounds. FIFTY! It was time.

Yes, it was hard. Some days I wanted to just give up, skip my work out, and eat a cheeseburger and fries. But soon, working out was something I actually looked forward to. Weird, right? I loved the feeling of burning thighs and racing heart rates, because that means numbers going down on the scale. And boy, did they go down! Slowly but surely.

I ended up losing about 37 pounds with Jillian Michaels. I signed up for her website and got a personalized weight loss plan that helped me along the way. With recipes, goals, and tips, I never got bored, and I never felt like I was going it alone. Now that I'm expecting our third baby (34 weeks today! Whoa!), I've kept the knowledge in the back of my mind, knowing that while it may feel really good to eat a bowl of ice cream every night, it is not helping my body. I plan on picking up right where I left off with Jillian, and losing the rest (and then some!) after I'm cleared by my doctor. Fitness is important to me now, and I know my kids see that, too.

So here's where YOU get to make a change. Sign up for JillianMichaels.com and get started on YOUR new life. It's free. Seriously. You can cancel it any time, but you wont want to, I promise. It is so worth the valuable information you get from it, and once you see the change in your physical appearance (and your self esteem!) you wont want to quit. So go for it. Make the change for YOU!

I wouldn't make this post unless I truly believed in this program. I have personally used it, and had great success. I know you can, too.

The Great Cloth Diaper Change

By now I'm sure most of you cloth diapering mamas have heard about The Great Cloth Diaper Change and the attempt to set the Guinness World Record for most cloth diapers changed simultaneously. It's a great idea, and I can't wait to see how many diapers are actually changed!

Remember our great sponsor for the Fuzzi Bunz Mama Pads and Leslie's Boutique Wet Bag giveaway, Circle Me? Well, they need your help! They are hosting a portion of The Great Cloth Diaper Change at their store, but are in need of a supervisor. Guinness requires that this person know about cloth diapers (like the difference between AIOs, Pockets, etc.) and have NO previous affiliation with Circle Me. So if you are in the Lincoln/Omaha, Nebraska area and would like to be a part of cloth diaper history, please get in touch with them! You can email them at info at circleme dot me or get in touch with them via Twitter or Facebook.

If you're looking for your local site for The Great Cloth Diaper Change, just search for your location here.

Purex Complete with Zout Review + Giveaway

I never knew how much I missed seeing green grass until little bitty blades started popping up in my yard this past week. I'm so happy that Spring is here, and that color will finally return to my yard and town! However, lush green grass plus a toddler and preschooler equals one thing and one thing only...grass stains. Spring time brings many a stain to my kids' clothing. Grass from playing outside, chocolate from ice cream while sitting on the front porch, you name it. Both of my kids are born in March, so the whole month seems like it's been a giant birthday party. Micah, my son, got a huge chocolate cake stain on a new shirt from shoveling cake into his mouth in ridiculously large quantities. I knew it wouldn't come out in the wash--but then I tried Purex Complete with Zout!

Purex has done it again! I washed the shirt with the chocolate stain using Purex Complete with Zout, and sure enough, that chocolate stain was history! I recieved Purex Complete with Zout in the free and clear formula, so I've also been using it on Micah's cloth diapers with great success! Granted, he doesn't have especially sensitive skin, so you may want to use discretion with your detergents :). Purex Complete with Zout is so special because it has the pretreater already in the detergent, so there's no need to use a separate spray on those tough stains---your detergent will take care of them!

Not only that, but it works in BOTH regular washers AND High Efficiency Machines! And with prices starting at just $3.49, it's a totally affordable way to do laundry. Want to try it out? Head on over to Purex and score a FREE sample of Purex Complete with Zout! You can't beat free, right?

Want even more? Yep! TWO lucky Freckleberry Finds readers will win a full bottle of Purex Complete with Zout!

Bummas Review + Free Shipping for Spring!

I'm not an accomplished seamstress. Heck, I can hardly do cross stitch! So when other moms were able to whip up cute cloth wipes in no time, I was wildly jealous. I made do with cut up receiving blankets, and that did the trick until they started to unravel on me. I happened upon Bummas through other blogs, and knew that these wipes were going to be awesome!

I was right! Not only do they work well as cloth wipes, they also saved the day when we had an especially nasty sneeze from my 2 year old. As their website states, "Bummas are small soft, luxurious baby-sized cloths made especially for drying baby bottoms, as well as blocking those surprise squirts. And with a little douse of water, they can also replace wet wipes for clean up of sensitive bums. They are small enough to conveniently carry on the go and durable enough to wash over and over again and won’t pill shrink or fade."

I recieved Bummas in The Wild Ones colors. They are too cute! Fun colors never hurt one bit :). These wipes are the best out there! In celebration of the first day of Spring (I don't know about you, but I'm ecstatic that winter is over!), Bummas is offering FREE SHIPPING to the US & Canada on March 20th, 21st, and 22nd! Additionally, they're having FREE SHIPPING in honor of Earth Day, April 22nd! Head on over and check out their fantastic product and pick up a set for your little one!

Baby Bond Review + Giveaway

Breastfeeding. It’s an adventure, for sure. From getting a good latch to creating and being totally dependent on a fort made of pillows to prop up your baby, there’s enough to worry about. But wait. You have to go out in public, right? If you want to keep your sanity, you do. So how does baby eat in public? You could buy a nursing cover, and give it a go. That’s what I did for Micah. It worked alright, in the sense that I didn’t feel like a milk cow at the dinner table at the Olive Garden, but I could tell he never liked being blanketed while eating. I wouldn’t want to eat my fettuccine underneath a sheet, either, kid. But what else is there? I am all for modesty, and I’m also all for feeding your baby wherever you are. If baby needs to eat, I’m not going to the bathroom stall to feed him! That’s what the folks at Baby Bond set out to remedy, and by golly, they’ve done it!

Check out that 31 week belly!

Baby Bond is a nursing sash that keeps you covered, but not baby. Feeding is discreet, but you are still able to maintain eye contact with your little one, and he or she isn’t sweltering underneath a cover. It comes in three different styles: Original, Flex, and Couture. I received a Baby Bond Couture in Riviera, and let me tell you, this product is absolutely fabulous. I immediately tried it on, and fell in love. The fantastic thing about the Couture model is that it isn’t sized---that means a perfect fit every time. I was nervous about getting a good fit since I’d be picking my model while still pregnant, so this is a great solution! The couture is great in that it can be used as a belly cover OR a cover to nurse from the top of your shirt.

Buy it: You can buy Baby Bond for $35. Baby Bond has offered Freckleberry Finds readers 25% off of their order! Enter FRECKLE at check out!

Want one? How couldn’t you?! Baby Bond has generously offered one lucky Freckleberry Finds winner a Baby Bond of their choice!

So we live in a house with a gargantuan living room. I love the space, but our single couch and chair are not cutting it anymore. Just this weekend, my mother-in-law and her boyfriend came over to visit, and we simply didn't have enough seating for everyone. So off to Become I go to lust over some new furniture!

First, I browsed through their sectionals. I really would love a sectional, in that it doesn't take up the space of a couch AND a loveseat, but you get the extra seating! I love the modern look that they have, and you just can't go wrong with a modern, sleek sectional, if you ask me! Throw in a functional lift top coffee table, and you're set to go! Another major bummer about our 1960s house is that there is one...count it, ONE light fixture in the corner. For a huge space! Evidently, lamps were the go-to lighting fixture back then, which is okay with me as long as I can have ones as cute as these Candice Olson designs! Love 'em.

Then I found what would take a lot of convincing for the hubby, but I would LOVE more than anything. I've got a bold decorating taste, and found this zebra print wallpaper. C'mon...how adorable would a nursery be with pink accents and a wall of zebra? Very diva!

What is your dream living room like? Modern? French country? Oversized and comfy?

Winter, Be Gone!

Are you as sick of winter as I am? Probably. I'm pretty dang sick of it. I'm a native South Texan, and "winter" down there is two months of 40-50 degree weather, then March comes and it's Spring time! Not so in rural Nebraska. Winter is brutal. Even though locals and family members that are native Nebraskans are telling me this was a mild winter, I basically dream about flip flops and fresh fruit in the back yard on a minutely basis. The whimsical novelty of snowfall has worn off, and I'm just over the cold.

Unfortunately, kids and their energy levels don't get that the wind chill is in the negatives. They want to play in the snow, and they want to do it NOW! That means half an hour of bundling up, looking for the one lost glove (they ALWAYS get lost, don't they?!), and making sure everyone wont get frost bite if we go romp in the yard. Half an hour of bundling for about 15 minutes of play. Somehow, that equation wasn't sounding too appealing this morning. I tried to stall them, I really did. We even PAINTED. Do you know how much mess is involved with an almost 4 year-old and almost 2 year-old using tempera paint? I was willing to go the distance to avoid outside play. I know, horrible mom award right here.

Then it hit me. Don't take the kids to the snow--bring the snow to the kids! So I rounded up my biggest tupperware container, and ventured a whopping 4 feet from my front door. I filled that sucker up and brought it in. This was the result.

Those smiles are enough to melt my cold winter-hating heart. Also, note the green tempera paint in Micah's hair. See? I told you we painted!

So today the score is Mom, 1 - Winter, 0.

13 days, 5 hours until Spring. But who's counting?

Artisan Scrapbooking Software - Review + Giveaway

I’d like to think I’m a crafty person. Really! I like to doodle and get a little creative. I can glue sequins and sprinkle glitter with the best of them. The only problem is time. It always comes down to not enough time. I can’t even begin to count the pictures that I have just sitting in folders on my computer, waiting to be uploaded, printed, picked up from the drug store, and then scrapbooked. I loved to scrapbook before I had kids, and could happily sit at my kitchen table until the wee hours of the morning until my fingers started to stick together from the residue of those little sticky dots used to affix photos. But now, sleep supercedes all other extracurricular activities. I still want to treasure those memories and display photos from holidays, special events, and birthdays, but I just don’t have the time or energy to do it anymore.

Then suddenly, like a knight in shining armor, Panstoria creates this absolutely fantastic photo editing and scrapbooking program called Artisan. Let me tell you, this program is absolutely stellar! I literally created a 25 page scrapbook in about 10 minutes using the Auto Populate feature combined with pre-designed pages. I can share it to Facebook, print it out at home, or have it professionally printed if I prefer. It is so incredibly user-friendly, and it has features that work similar to real life. Don’t like that embellishment there? Delete it! Want it moved over a smidge? Just slide it on over! What’s even better is that there’s no sticky glue residue left on your pictures! Here’s a screen shot of me working on my scrapbook:

And if you don't read a smidge of my review, just watch this video! It's only a minute out of your life and it shows you how dang easy it is to use Artisan!
